Frequently Asked Questions

We understand this may be your first time in a Motorhome or hiring from us so here are some answers to questions we are frequently asked.

Can anyone drive a Motorhome?

All our motorhomes have a maximum weight of 3.5 ton so they can be driven on a normal driving licence, however  our insurers do have restrictions on who can drive based on age and driving history.
We shall require a copy of your driving licence, two official documents showing the same address as your licence and we shall carry out a DVLA driver check (please provide a Driver Check Code upon arrival).

Can I share the driving with someone else?

We are able to add second drivers to each booking, although this does come with an additional, one off charge of £45.  Unfortunately we cannot accommodate three or more drivers.

Can I hire a Motorhome if I have points on my licence?

Our insurers allow us to hire to drivers with a few points on their licence.  Please check our Driver Checkup page for more information.

Can I go anywhere in a Motorhome?

Yes, as long as you adhere to the highways regulations and rules.  The motorhome has a maximum Gross Weight of 3.5 Ton.
Be aware some roads/bridges have height/weight limits.   Each motorhomes has its external dimensions inside the cab so you know how high/wide it is.  Be vigilant for any barriers/tunnels with height/weight/width restrictions.

Do you charge for extras?

All our motorhomes come equipped with everything you'll need to have a fulfilled holiday at no extra cost to yourselves.
Occasionally we do incur additional costs for things like additional drivers or European travelling.  If you require anything which incurs an additional cost, rest assured we do not profit from them.

How long does it take to pick up and drop off our Motorhome?

Upon your booking you shall be sent a link to some online videos which explain many of each vehicle's details and specific procedures to help you have the best  experience whilst renting.  During the vehicle hand over we shall recap on these and some other key points.  We shall also require photocopies of documents as outlined in our Document Checker page.  All in all we would hope to get you on your way in under two hours (don't forget you'll have to transfer any clothes etc into the vehicle before you depart).  We are happy to join you for a short test drive on public roads if you are apprehensive of driving a larger vehicle than you are used to.

Is my vehicle safe whilst I am away?

We have off-road CCTV monitored parking available for your vehicle during your holiday, although Make A Memory does not accept any liability for any damage or theft whilst the vehicle is being stored with us.

Are pets allowed in our Motorhomes?

Yes we allow two small dogs or one large dog in our motorhomes but we ask you not allow them in the beds and use the provided covers if they wish to join you on the furniture.*

* We reserve the right to charge a £50 cleaning fee for hirers who leave the vehicle with obvious signs of dirty dog upon the return off the vehicle.
